Heavy-Duty Pre-Opened and Perforated Bags on a Roll
Heavy-Duty Pre-Opened and Perforated Bags on a Roll are built with a thicker film gauge to handle heavier parts, sharp edges, and rougher handling than a standard-weight pre-opened bag. Each bag is pre-opened and perforated on a continuous roll, so it loads and separates cleanly even with heavier hardware, fittings, and industrial components inside. We confirm gauge, dimensions, and roll configuration to your product before production. MOQ starts at 30,000 pieces.
Common Types of Bags on a Roll We Manufacture
Heavy-Duty Hardware and Fastener Bags: Thicker-gauge film (4 mil standard, 6 mil for extreme puncture resistance) built to resist puncture from sharp edges, bolts, and metal fittings during packing and shipping.
Automotive and Industrial Component Bags: Heavier construction for bulkier or irregularly shaped parts — brackets, fittings, and assemblies — that need more support than a standard-weight bag.
Kitting and Multi-Part Packaging: Sized to hold multiple components together for assembly-line kitting, with a gauge chosen to handle the combined weight and edge exposure of grouped parts.
Standard-Weight Pre-Opened Bags: For lighter products where a heavy-duty gauge isn’t necessary — see our Clear Pre-Opened Bags on a Roll for standard-gauge options.
To help you find the right configuration, let us know:
- What are you packaging (loose hardware, assembled kits, automotive or industrial parts)?
- What’s the approximate weight and edge condition of the product (sharp, rounded, stacked)?
- What size and film gauge do you think you need, or should we recommend one based on the product?
Available Sizes by Gauge
4 Mil — Heavy-Duty, Most Popular Industrial Gauge
4 mil balances strength and cost-efficiency, and is the most commonly ordered gauge for sharp-edged screws, tools, heavier components, and frozen goods.
| Size | Thickness | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| 2″×3″, 3″×3″, 3″×4″, 3″×5″ | 4 Mil | Single chips, jewelry, small screws, capacitors |
| 4″×6″, 5″×7″, 6″×9″ | 4 Mil | Small hardware tools, bundled manuals, small automotive parts, bulk hardware |
| 8″×10″, 9″×12″ | 4 Mil | Bulk hardware |
| 10″×14″, 12″×15″ | 4 Mil | Heavier gears, metal pipe fittings, bulk powder |
| 14″×24″, 18″×24″ | 4 Mil | Bulk powder, large frozen-goods bags |
6 Mil — Super Heavy-Duty, Extreme Puncture Resistance
6 mil is thick enough to feel like a rigid plastic sheet, built for sharp, extremely heavy, or high-friction items that risk bursting a lighter-gauge bag during shipping and handling.
| Size | Thickness | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| 3″×5″, 4″×6″ | 6 Mil | Heavy bearings, sharp cutting tools |
| 6″×9″ | 6 Mil | Sharps disposal |
| 8″×10″, 9″×12″ | 6 Mil | Heavy sandbag-type fills, construction materials, metal machined parts |
| 12″×15″ | 6 Mil | Metal machined parts |
| 21″×35″ | 6 Mil | Heavy sandbag-type fills; often rated for roughly 40–50 lbs of contents as a general industry reference, though actual capacity depends on product and handling conditions |
Custom widths, lengths, and gauges outside these examples can also be manufactured to your product and equipment requirements.

Automation and Packaging Equipment
We fit rolls to the feed, perforation, and pitch requirements of Autobag®, APS (Automated Packaging Systems), PDC International, Sharp Packaging (MAX), and FAS equipment. Heavier-gauge film changes feed and seal behavior compared to standard-weight bags, so send us your machine’s make and model, or your current bag specification, and we’ll confirm roll core, perforation position, and bag pitch before production.

Why Choose Us
- Factory direct — manufactured in-house, from film extrusion through perforation, with no trading-company markup
- Matched to your product and equipment — gauge, size, and roll configuration confirmed before production
- Fast turnaround — 15–35 working days after design confirmation
- Scale when you need it — up to 8,000,000 pieces per week in overall supply capacity
How to Specify for a Quote
Provide your product’s weight, edge condition, dimensions, target film gauge (or let us recommend one), quantity, and your bagging equipment’s make/model. We’ll confirm construction and send pricing.
FAQ
What makes a bag “heavy duty”?
A thicker film gauge — 4 mil for standard heavy-duty, 6 mil for super heavy-duty puncture resistance (roughly 0.076–0.15 mm) — along with a higher-LLDPE film blend for tensile strength and reinforced bottom/side seals to hold up under heavier loads. Common uses include screws, nails, small hardware tools, and other heavier or sharp-edged items.
Is thickness the only thing that makes a bag heavy duty?
No. Thickness is the most visible factor, but material blend and seal construction matter just as much. A higher proportion of LLDPE improves tensile strength so the bag stretches rather than bursts under load, and reinforced (wider or double heat-sealed) seams hold up better against the pressure a heavy load puts on the bottom seal.
How do I know what gauge I need?
Tell us your product’s weight and whether it has sharp or rough edges. Moderate hardware and tools typically fit 4 mil; extremely heavy, sharp, or high-friction items usually call for 6 mil.
Can heavy-duty bags run on automated bagging equipment?
Yes — we fit rolls for Autobag®, APS, PDC International, Sharp Packaging (MAX), and FAS equipment. Because heavier film feeds and seals differently than standard-weight film, send us your machine’s make/model and we’ll confirm compatibility before production.
What’s the minimum order quantity?
MOQ is 30,000 pieces per size/gauge combination.
